Flume systems

The flume system is developed for instantly removal of all vegetable cuttings and waste of the production departments concerned in the fresh cut industry.

The flume system in the Low Care immediately transports the waste and cuttings to the vegetable waste area. The flume system comprises stainless steel flume channels and a header flume of the production area. The stainless steel flume channels are connected to the sieve system.

At the beginning of each flush pipe water is injected to entrain the waste that has fallen or flushed into the flume system onward into the sieve system. The vegetable waste from the production lines drops into the flume channels underneath. The flume channels are flushed intermittently. The flow of recirculated water entrains the waste and transports it to the sieve system. The flumes work best when flushing in the opposite direction from the production lines.

In the cull room / waste area the flume water flows into our sieve system in which the waste and the water are separated. The sieved water is gathered in the pump pit.

The sieve conveyor has a horizontal sieve section through which the water passes and where the vegetable waste is gathered. Water and waste comes in from the side, just above the horizontal sieve section. The chain conveyor with scrapers transports the waste from this horizontal section up a rising chute and discharges it into a container (delivery client). The chain conveyor is equipped with an extra sieve to remove the draining water from the waste chute. This sieved draining water flows back into the pump pit. The sieve plates have a wedge profile to avoid clogging.

After the screening the (waste) water from the production area is gathered in the pump/buffer pit. The water will be reused in the  flume systems to transport the vegetable waste from the production lines and from the peeling line. The pump pit will have a minimum volume to accommodate the water volume that is required for filling up the flume systems during start up. The excess process water flows into the sewer channel via an overflow. The pump pit has a sloping bottom that acts as a sand trap, which contains a sand/sediment pump to pump the sand/sediment to the sand separator. The sand separator removes the settled sand/sediment and drops it into a container (delivery client), while the water flows into the sewer.
