Wastewater treatment system for large meat processing company

About the customer
Our customer distributes and markets refrigerated foods such as meats (including chicken, turkey and pork), cheeses and a range of other products. The company’s target group includes families, hotels and restaurant chains, hospitals, schools and other sectors in Central and South America.

Redox Water Technology is part of Colubris Cleantech and has been a global supplier of (waste)water purification systems for over 25 years. These installations are suitable for primary, secondary (biological) and tertiary wastewater treatments. The first wastewater purification system we produced for this meat company was delivered back in 1989. We then developed a new factory for the same company in 2016.

Background
The processing capacity of the customer’s previous water treatment system no longer met requirements. In order for the company to continue to comply with the discharge regulations, a state-of-the-art waste water treatment system was installed.

Profitable Solutions

  • In collaboration with agent UCY Mexico, Colubris constructed a waste water and sanitary refuse treatment system. Filters are applied to separate large parts, fats and floating material from the waste water, after which the water is further purified biologically.
  • To achieve a lower energy consumption, the customer opted for in-depth aeration by means of efficient turbo compressors.
  • A sub-stream of the effluent is further purified to make the water re-usable.
  • The various sludge flows are thickened on site in order to minimise transport in terms of drainage.
  • The entire system is fully automated for optimal performance. The purification process can be monitored remotely in real-time via the Internet.
  • The company has its own laboratory, which guarantees almost immediate analyses and therefore excellent water quality.

Highlights

  • Capacity 1200 m3/day.
  • The site where the water treatment system has been installed lies as much as 2.3 km above sea level.
  • 20 mof water is re-used every hour, which means that the system is self-sustaining and that no drinking water is wasted.
